Melvin Falkof, 97, of Highland Park, IL died on May 17, 2017. Mel graduated from MIT in 1939. His post graduate work at University of Minnesota was interrupted by WWII where he served as an Army major in the Chemical Warfare Division. In a wartime ceremony, he married Lucille Weintraub. He moved his family from NY to Highland Park in 1960 where he was an executive manager at Topco Corporation for 25 years. Upon retirement he volunteered with the Chicago offices of Score and served in several countries for the International Executive Service Corps. With his wife of 71 years, Lucille, he enjoyed traveling and visiting countries around the world, including spending a year in Cairo, Egypt. Mel was an involved member of Congregation Solel in Highland Park and will be remembered for his integrity and humbleness. He is survived by his four children, Ellen (Peter) Frank, Bonnie (Tom) Bethea, Moshe (Mala) Falkof and Brad (Ellen) Falkof, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
